What data we collect and for what purpose

Each time a user visits our website www.aargau.swiss or www.aargau.swiss/en, the web server automatically collects data and information from the computer system of the accessing computer. In particular, this includes information on the browser type and version used, the user’s operating system, the user’s internet service provider, the referrer URL (websites from which the user’s system accesses the website), websites accessed by the user’s system via the website, as well as the user’s IP address, date and time of access and the client’s file request (file name and URL). This data is stored in our system’s log files (or by third parties) together with other data and only collected for the purpose of statistical evaluation.

Marketing and newsletter

We may use your name and postal or email address(es) to provide our services and to deliver event information or invitations, publications and similar. We offer a newsletter that you can subscribe to. When you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect your email address at a minimum. Mailings (e.g. invitations to events), newsletters, etc. are sent using the CRM software provided by BSI Business Systems Integration AG. Your data will be stored on the software platform we use so that we can track your opening and clicking behaviour and contact you directly in individual cases. If required by law, we will obtain your consent for this in advance, unless we have received your contact details in the context of our services and you have not expressly refused to receive such marketing measures. If you no longer wish to receive corresponding deliveries from us, you can unsubscribe at any time using the contact details provided. There is also a cancellation link at the end of every marketing mailing or newsletter.

Insofar as we refer to third-party websites for information, events, etc., and you visit these websites, the corresponding privacy policies of the relevant website operators shall apply. We have no influence over these.

  • First name and surname
  • Company
  • Email address
  • Message content

We use Google reCAPTCHA on specific forms on our website. This is for the purposes of verification and prevention of interactions through automated access, for instance, by what are known as ‘bots’. This is a service provided by Google. Through certification according to the ‘EU-US Privacy Shield’, Google guarantees that the EU’s data protection regulations will also be adhered to when processing data in the USA. This service enables Google to determine from which web page a request is being sent and from which IP address you are using the reCAPTCHA input box. In addition to your IP address, other information may be collected by Google – where possible – that is necessary to offer and guarantee this service. The legal basis for data processing is Article 12, paragraph 1 of the Act on Public Information, Data Protection and Archives (IDAG). In order to protect the personal data stored in the context of our website, we must ensure data security and prevent unauthorised automated access in the form of spam or similar.

Legal basis for data processing

Data is processed for the purpose of providing our services to our customers, including measures and support. The data collected in this way will, for instance, be used for the entire processing of our service, including any subsequent warranty cases, technical administration, etc.

Data security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures in our systems to protect your data stored by us against loss, destruction, alteration and unauthorised access by third parties.

Security measures of a technical nature include, for example, encryption (including login data) and pseudonymisation of data, logging, access restrictions and the storage of backup copies. Our security measures are continuously adapted in line with technological developments. However, absolute protection cannot be guaranteed.

Cookies

The website sometimes uses what are known as ‘cookies’. Cookies do not cause any damage to your computer and do not contain any viruses. Cookies serve to make our website more user-friendly, effective and secure. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer and stored by your browser.

Most of the cookies we use are known as ‘session cookies’, which are automatically deleted at the end of your visit. Other cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them. These cookies enable us to recognise your browser on your next visit.

You can configure your browser so that you are informed of the placement of cookies and only allow cookies in individual cases, exclude the acceptance of cookies in certain cases or in general and enable automatic deletion of cookies when you close the browser. Disabling cookies may limit the functionality of this website.

Analytics tools

On our website, we use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA, USA) and Google Ireland Ltd. (Google Building Gordon House, Barrow St, Dublin 4, Ireland); both collectively referred to as ‘Google’. Google Analytics uses cookies (text files) and similar technologies to collect certain information about the behaviour of individual users on and/or in the relevant web page and the device used for this purpose (tablet, PC, smartphone, etc.) and thus to enable the analysis of the use of the website.

The information generated by these performance cookies about the use of the website (including IP address) is transmitted to the Google server. Google provides us with reports and can therefore be regarded as our processor in this light. However, Google also processes certain data for its own purposes. In some circumstances, Google may be able to draw conclusions on the identity of visitors to the web pages based on the data collected and therefore create personal profiles and link the data obtained with any existing user accounts of these individuals. Google may also transfer this information to third parties, if this is legally required or third parties process this data on behalf of Google. If you consent to the use of Google, you expressly consent to such processing, which also includes the transfer of personal data to the USA and other countries.

Social media

We use what are known as plug-ins from social networks such as YouTube and LinkedIn on our website. The corresponding buttons/symbols can be seen on our website. These elements are configured in such a way that they are deactivated as standard. Clicking on the buttons/symbols allows the relevant operators of the social networks to register that you are on our website, where your location is and to use this information for their own purposes. Your data is processed under the responsibility of the relevant operator in accordance with its privacy policy. We do not receive any information about you from them.

If you communicate with us via such social networks or comment on or share our content, we collect the relevant information and process it in accordance with our privacy policy.

When you visit our social media pages, data (e.g. about your user behaviour) may also be transmitted directly to the provider in question or collected by them and processed together with other data already known to them (e.g. for marketing and market research purposes and to personalise platform content). Further information on data processing by social network providers, the countries in which they process your data, and your rights can be found in the privacy policies of the relevant social networks:

YouTube: Privacy Policy
LinkedIn: Privacy Policy

Further information can also be found in Google’s privacy policy.
