Startup Hub established at Baden Cantonal Hospital

Baden AG - Scanvio Medical has become the first start-up to move into the Startup Hub located on the health campus at Baden Cantonal Hospital. There, the aim is for start-ups to benefit from direct exchanges with clinical specalists and research experts from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.

(CONNECT) A Startup Hub is being established at the Health Innovation Hub Aargau (HIH Aargau), the health campus located on the site of Baden Cantonal Hospital (KSB). According to a press release issued by HIH Aargau, this is designed to offer a place for exchange and networking, in addition to supplementing the existing health and medtech innovation landscape in Zurich, Aargau, Basel and Bern. HIH Aargau is a joint initiative between KSB, the city of Baden and the canton of Aargau, and offers the framework for the new Startup Hub.

Start-ups with a focus on health have access to both coworking spaces and offices at Partnerhaus 2 of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH). As the press release explains further, the location at KSB impresses not only on account of the “state-of-the-art infrastructure” it offers, but also provides start-ups with “the unique opportunity of maintaining close contact with people at the hospital and clinical research experts from ETH”.

The first start-up in the form of Scanvio Medical has now moved into the Startup Hub. Scanvio Medical is collaborating on an Innosuisse project with ETH and KSB, which aims to facilitate a non-invasive, faster diagnosis of endometriosis. HUH Aargau calls this a “prime example of cooperation between research, hospitals and industry. It is precisely projects like this that the establishment of the Startup Hub seeks to promote”. ce/mm
