Messer Schweiz AG presents innovative hydrogen filling station

Lenzburg - Messer Schweiz AG presented an innovative hydrogen filling station on July 1 in Lenzburg. In comparison with conventional models, this stands out due to the fact that it can be operated in a noise and vibration-free manner. The compressor is powered by waste heat.

Messer Schweiz AG aims to set new standards around the world in terms of hydrogen technology. On July 1, the industrial gas specialist presented an innovative hydrogen filling station at the company’s headquarters in Lenzburg in the canton of Aargau, Switzerland. “Our globally unique facility marks a significant step in the development of environmentally friendly and sustainable mobility and underlines the pioneering role played by the canton of Aargau in the field of hydrogen technologies”, comments Hans Michael Kellner, CEO of Messer Schweiz AG, in a press release issued by the company.

According to the press release, the noise and vibration-free operation of this innovative concept devised by Messer Schweiz, which has already been approved by the authorities and is ready for the market, represents a real advantage over conventional hydrogen filling stations. In this way, it can also be used in residential areas, while the system also requires neither its own building nor additional soundproofing.

Waste heat is used to operate the compressor in the filling station, which helps to save resources and does not consume any additional electricity. It was developed by GRZ Technologies, which is a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne. Representatives from the Swiss federal government, the National Council (the lower house of the Swiss parliament) and the municipality, as well as researchers and members of companies, which according to the press release have already shown interest in making use of the filling station, were all in attendance at the presentation of this innovative concept. ce/hs
