Bertschi posts 5 percent sales growth for 2024
(CONNECT) With revenue of 1.01 billion Swiss francs, Bertschi increased its sales by 5 percent in 2024. In a press release, the logistics service provider describes this as a “positive financial result - however at a significantly lower level compared to previous years”. In this context, rising costs, ongoing geopolitical tensions and shifts in global trade patterns are reportedly placing profitability increasingly under pressure.
The significant decline in chemical production and numerous plant closures left their mark also on the company. However, Bertschi’s global presence meant that it was able to “offer customers agile and cost-efficient door-door-solutions from worldwide diversified sourcing points into Europe’s receiving markets”, as Hans-Jörg Bertschi, Chairman of the Board of Directors, states.
In total, Bertschi invested 90 million Swiss francs in its global expansion plans, the construction of new multimodal logistics infrastructures at two major European ports in the shape of Antwerp and Rotterdam, as well as in digitalization. In Asia, the Aargau-based family company strengthened its presence in both Japan and South Korea, in addition to agreeing a strategic alliance in India.
Investments were also made in automating the company’s quotation and invoice creation processes, as well as for order tracking. Moreover, Bertschi helped to launch the Women in Logistics consortium alongside ten partners from the European chemical and chemical logistics industry. “Women in Logistics is all about meaningful change through collaboration beyond competition”, Hans-Jörg Bertschi explains. ce/mm
