Switzerland is characterised by exceptional economic and political stability. Its federal state system, low capital costs, stable currency , solid purchasing power, moderate tax burden and pronounced innovative prowess make the country a first-class business location.

According to the annual study by the UN Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Switzerland has once again been named the most innovative country in the world. In 2024, Switzerland secured this top spot for the 14th time in a row. Some of the factors that contributed to this achievement were the country’s overall business environment, progressive use of new technologies, high number of patents and technical expertise.

Aargau is a particularly pro-business canton with a liberal economic policy. Administrative processes and structures are designed efficiently, and collaboration with the authorities is much more straightforward than in many other cantons.

In 2024, the credit rating agency Standard & Poor’s once again awarded the canton of Aargau the highest rating, ‘AAA’. In its analysis, the agency emphasises the canton’s prudent financial management and low level of debt combined with high liquidity reserves.

Thanks to the canton’s broadly diversified economic structure and resulting resilience, the agency also expects tax revenue to continue to develop positively in the coming years.

The UBS Cantonal Competitiveness Indicator assesses the long-term growth potential of the cantons in Switzerland. In the latest UBS study, the canton of Aargau came fourth compared to other cantons, underscoring its strong position for future growth.
