With over 30% of the energy produced nationwide and a quarter of all energy specialists, it is the most important energy supplier in Switzerland. The 26 hydropower plants in the canton with the greatest amount of water guarantee a constant energy supply. In addition, the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) conducts research into innovative technologies for a low-CO2 energy future, with a focus on renewable energies and their integration.
